A day in the life of a cat

Ever wonder how great it would be to be a calico, Siamese, or alley cat?  I am going to guess that life from 12 to 12 and wonder what they do.
Midnight to 1 AM
Awake and looking out the window for potential strangers, and if any will immediately embrace and purr at.
1 AM to 2 AM
Wander the house and look at shadows, possible toys, litter box (just checking), and close eyes for a few minutes.
2 AM to 3 AM
Look in the bedroom and see the owner asleep, sleep for 45 minutes
3 AM to 4 AM
More of the same
4 AM to 5 AM
wake up said owner with either whiskers in face or ears.
5 AM to 6 AM
owner awake reading paper and watching news on TV.  insist on kitty treats until demand is met
6 AM to 7 AM
Watch owner get ready for work and inhibit his every ability. Whine, meow and follow into bathroom.  Lick up remaining water in shower and sink.
7 AM to 8 AM
Sleep
8 AM to 9 AM
Sleep, pee in one of two litter boxes
9 AM to 10 AM
Sleep, interrupted by birds, back to sleep
10 AM to 11 AM
Price is Right
11 AM to Noon]
Wait for owners' lunch break and knock over kitty treats
Noon to 1 PM
Tan fur, and chase birds
1 PM to 2 PM
Sleep, poop
2 PM to 3 PM
Sleep, in new location
3 PM to 4 PM
Wait for owner
4PM to 5 PM
Need loving from owner
5 PM to 6 PM
want treats no loving
6 PM to 7 PM
sleeping or playing depending on the stressful day
7 PM to 8 PM
sleeping
8 PM to 9 PM
sleeping
9 PM to 10 PM
sleeping and stretching
10 PM to 11 PM
following owner to bed, then roaming the house
11 PM to Midnight
Being the most lovable cat in the world that I would not trade for anything.

The ironies of life.

Spring has sprung and new life always seems to emerge and excite us.  The lilac bush is enjoying the rain as well as the once again green lawn.  Flowers, and vegetable gardens will soon emerge and give life to a otherwise grim winter that we incurred.  The first sounds of lawn mowers and trimmers bring out the sense of excitement and enthusiasm of summer to come.  At what point does this excitement of yard work turn into the chores of the summer?  The fall leaves lead us to yet another chore, yet we are enthralled with this enjoyment that we currently have.  Life is a seasonal and yearly ironic chore.  At some points we are flush with enjoyment on a task and at another we are obligated by the chore with the same task.  Life is very much the same way.  We go through the same motions and rythms of daily obligations of work and usually we end up with the same results.  However in this economy, the same efficient results could lead to a loss in a job.  Irony is, the way I put it, the absurdity of a real logical situation.  Its dumbfoundedness is without reason.  Why do I love planting things but hate the end of tending to them?  The way I see things irony can lead to happiness.  How do two 90 something women outlive their neighbors even in their own bad health?  Maybe irony means an omen for things to come, because two women I know should not have been able to do those things.
Lead your life in the right way, and irony will lead to positive unexpected consequences.
Hopefully,

the boys of summer

In baseball to hit 300 is wonderful. to pitch at 3 era is wonderful as well. Everthing I love about baseball and statistics don't compare to the real world. I need to bat 900 and have an era of 1 to have her back. To only garner one out three chances doesn't work in the real world. To give up a 3 run average is great but a woman still hates that. Women deserve 900 averages and less than 1 era's. No matter what the woman wants out of a man they always want a better perfection. That is is the striving factor in wanting a woman. I don't fault women for this, only strive to show you the anticipation you want. Sometimes you wat more than we can give and we give more than we know.
Love,
Your admirer

Maturity

Do you ever wonder at what point you reach maturity? Is it turning 18 and turning in a draft card? Is it 21 and drinking 21 shots or close to it? Is it graduating college? Is it owning your first home? I am 29 almost 30 and I now found out what maturity is. It is not about a job or mortgage. Its not about age or shots, its about relationships. I now know that I was immature for my first 30 years. Immature is not about selfishness but about non-compromise. At 30 I now realize my mistakes and look back at my twenties. Fun but immature. I want more out of life now more than ever. I realize my problems and now want to seize the missed opportunities. I hate to say shit happens and forget it, but it can be a new start. As long as I learn from my first 30 years and see that I can create a new 30 years I will be happy. Memories are as great as you can reasonably tell them. Sometimes memories of the past can be easily overlooked in storytelling but not so easily forgotten in truth. How history of one another is made can always be looked at as a series of events that could have gone a different way. For better or worse.

The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent

We now have a president who enjoys the company of communists in an open manner. He sits back as communists lambaste the United States and his response is to make a joke in reference. Back bone is lacking and reverse thinking is evident. A man who aspires to become known in history to be likened to Lincoln has a long way to go and learn about history. Obama, why did you accept a communist propaganda book from Chavez. You may want us to believe that Chavez deserves an open arms hug in the western hemisphere, but do you really expect us to take the blame for all of latin america's historical problems. Open the history books and realize that the current mayor of Curacas, a political rival of Chavez, has yet to step foot in office because of Chavez's thugs. Do not embrace the sandinista Ortega. The old saying of learn from history is lost on Obama. His ideas are all about appeasement at any cost.

The little things

the little things in life are precious. That sounds so cliche but it is true. When you wake up in the morning and shower it is always better to kiss a woman goodbye than a cat. When you come home at lunch it is always better to see a woman at home at lunch than a sleeping cat. When you come home at the end of the day, it always better to see that the woman has a plan for dinner rather than a cat sleeping through it. I miss her enormously. What I love about a woman is she always wants more. The divide between us can become the undoing, but also become our doing. What a sleeping cat won't do I will for her. The things that I miss, chicken noodle soup, inspire me to be a better man. Maybe my role should go further and my efforts at that have been less than stellar, but I am better than the cat that I know. Trying at perfection should be worth a shot.

arguments

I found myself in a situation tonight in which I genuinely had no desire to express my opinion and sat in, literally, an argument. What this showed me was my own stupidity of continuing arguments only for the sake of proving a point. Arguing only gets you so far in life and sometimes that far is too far before you realize that the point is gone and the one's you love don't care about your point. Walk away from a heated argument, that is what I did tonight and I feel very good about myself. Not that I thought my point could not have been heard but there was no point in it being heard. I feel that the more you know, sometimes , the more it hurts you in the long run. Stubbornness hurts a lot of people in the long run. I know how I feel on opinions but I took the high road today and stayed out of controversy. I haven't always done that, I saw why I should today. It's embarrassing. My opinions have led to me having the situation that I am currently in; single.

Teaching History?

History is America just as baseball is history. However, both America and baseball have lost sight of why that dreaded word of history is important to both sanctity's. What is taught in American schools is the requirement to succeed and be successful. This has come at any cost. Be it PSAT's in order to pump the SAT scores even higher, or the desire to hand pick, as freshmen, the winners that will help the predestined teams succeed. History is overlooked in this era of achievement only by numbers. Why is history an overlooked and often understood subject. It is because it being taught to be a boring non-relevant subject. I love history and went through a 5 year period of my life seeing as just that, boring, and no relevance. Teachers do not care to inform about life only to teach about subjects. It is no wonder that rich affluent kids do well in tests in order to perform for their interested parents to see. When you take away the ability to please you see that the teaching is not doing any true personal motivation in most cases. Teach to inform that Lincoln wasn't just assassinated. Teach to inform that the War of 1812 still has meaning today. Teach that the emancipation proclamation still has problems today. Stay away from textbooks that are dull and disinteresting and show that Paul Revere wasn't alone, Dr. Mudd was important, FDR was nearly impeached, JFK started a war, and Reagan did not bring down the wall (Afghanistan did). Every day that you live is historical, and that is what this blog is about. History is yesterday or yesteryear depending on your point of view. None the less, History is a lesson to always draw upon and learn from. It is ironic to me that given this, the only people allowed to teach "history" must have a degree in "history". Yet I find that history can be so easily skewed and manipulated by those few that hold that power. I know history by constantly questioning my own and others history to further understand it. History is never permanent and will always be questioned by it truthfullness. But to teach History as truth and not look at new perspectives will deny the ability to truly enjoy the subject.

By the way the bible was written by apostles who believed the people who told them the stories that they wrote a history.
Free thinking leads to fact finding of historical record. And that can still be wrong in the future historical record

Pirates and Lesbians

In a hypothetical world Rosie O'Donnell would host cruise ship full of lesbian and gay couples. Oh, wait she already did. Ok, in a hypothetical world the cruise ship left for the tropical paradise of, say, the horn of Africa. Doubts among you? In a hypothetical world Madonna was aboard and wanted a new baby. Ok, still not convincing. In a hypothetical world Rosie, Madonna, Brad, Angelina, and we'll throw in A-rod head to the horn of Africa for a gay African kid stealing trip (rich orphans that Oprah shows off). They see the State Department warnings but are reassured when Hillary steps aboard and assures them no chance of trouble in this area of the world. Bill telegraphs and says to them all, with an XOXO to Hillary, have a nice trip but watch out for the artic cap that is breaking away from Antartica (thank you Gore). Unfortunatelly, pirates have taken over the vessell and demand ransom. Rosie whines, Madonna sings (shot for anti any religion), Brad is waiting to hear what Angelina does, Angelina (they think she is mad, sad, mad, sad, mad, sad, then figure that Brad deserves out of the hostage situation Angelina put him through). So the pirates are now desperate not to piss off Harpo Productions, but still hold Rosie, Angelina and Hillary. The US Navy arrives and has no clear derective. You decide who is first. Or can we have that heroes welcome that involves three simultaneous sniper shots. Where is A-Rod you ask? He survived by giving his soul to the Yankees.

lawyers?

What is the reason for lawyers? To protect and to defend our rights and see to it that our valid side of a case can be reasonably seen and decided by either a judge or jury among us. Simple enough. What is the purpose of the executive branch. To introduce and instruct the legislative branch the direction in which they intend to proceed with the unalienable abilities to veto or create military formation. What is the legislative branch? To debate and determine the validity and constitutionality of the bills and resolutions presented, therefore enacting laws. What is the Judicial branch? To ensure that the laws are constitutional and represent a fair view of their intentions. No one branch should be able to usurp any of the other two branches. The checks and balances principle. Judicial branches throughout the land dating back to (and probably further) the Emancipation Proclamation have in essence created the law of the land. That is not their role. It is to evaluate specific cases in order to see that Justice is not being denied. The problem is that case law has become such an important part of the judicial process that the other branches treat these decisions by judges as law and orders. Justice is based upon two things; the plaintiff and the defendant, period. Remember this. That case has no true bearing on law, it is only a decision. Example: Eric is convicted of burglary for showing that he had a gun in a crime. John is convicted of aggravated armed robbery for showing that he had a gun in a crime. No law has changed that was enacted by the legislature. Yet we see two different Judicial opinions to two separate Judicial cases. A Judicial decision can only be related to one case. Judicial opinion can change a law, but not without a legislative action changing a previous action. As much as we don't want to admit Roe v. Wade was only one case and did not change legislative law. Brown v. Education did not change law. The legislatures saw these as a reason to change law. (Roe v. Wade has never been universally changed by the courts decision in that one case). Iowa's gay marriage decision was one case, and those two should be married. But the legislative and executive branches have not lost their law. The law still states a Marriage between a Man and a Woman. No matter how you feel about the issue, it is still the law. Every gay couple that weds in this state next month is breaking our law because their case was not brought to court to defend. Every county recorder in this state needs to uphold their pledge. To uphold and defend the constitution of America first. The United States of America still upholds, as a supreme being the ideals of marriage. The christian supreme being as in god and its ideals as a defense. Not only that, but that the Judicial branch can not reverse law but only have an opinion on the specific case involved. Case Law is great but cannot automatically create laws. Balance of powers.

The vote

Why do Americans not vote? Complacency? Ignorance? Party Confidence? We have become the lamest and greatest Republic in the history of mankind yet we don't find our right to vote a civic duty but a civic responsibility that we don't want to deal with. Bitch and moan all you want but legislators, congressman, and councilman all hold the same power over all of us. As much as I hate McCain why did we vote in Obama? To change to party line of Bush? Why? A two party system was never wanted or intended. A one party system is even worse. Do Iowans deserve the first vote. No. Why should we hold that power of politics of the country. Even in our great debate of the politics of the nation we only turned our 40% of our population. Does that deserve a boost to morale or a boost to reputation. I hated Bush as a president, but that doesn't mean he never did any good. My retirement fund is to crap but should I blame that on anyone but myself. We vote because we should and have the trust in who we elect. Certainally we can disagree, but we owe ourselves to ultimately look toward those persons and have a certain amount of trust in each and every one of them.

Baseball: the sequel

I sit today loving the fact that baseball has now moved from the Cactus and Grapefruit leagues back to the Midwest and front pages of daily reports. The I-cubs are yet to open in Des Moines but happy to start in Texas for the warmer weather. I itch at my chance to see my beloved cubs at Addison and Clark this summer. Today, however, I was brought to tears over the fragility of the pursuit of the game. A rising star by the name of Nick Adenhart lost his hopes, dreams, and life this morning. Not by being cut from the team, but by throwing a gem of 6 scoreless innings. His stats will not be what I think about tonight. It will be his age, 22, and his limitless opportunities lost because of someone else. Baseball is full of tragedy, triumph, victory and despair. All mixed emotions that ultimately lead to the greater good of the game. What happened this morning to him and two other people does not lead to anything other than sadness. Why I love the game and its players is irrelavent on a day like today. I am not a religious person, but on a day like today, I only wish that god called him home for a reason.

trivia

Sometimes I wonder If my life is all about trivia. I depend on baseball to show me trivia. My history interest is predicated on trivia. I am obsessed with trivia , but when came to dealing with my girlfriend she didn't want it. I know her birth date, but our anniversary I didn't. I could tell you the date that the cubs went lights on but I still don't know the date we started dating. Ask me the numbers of important cubs and I'll tell you. Ask me important relationship dates, and I'll tell you the issues of Vineline I've been in. I'm sorry J. but I still love ya.

Life

Life is a mystery. If you would have asked 4 weeks ago how I felt about life I would have said it is scary and intimidating. But now I look at life as an opportunity and experience. Soon to be laied off. Ok. No new job in the making. Girlfriend gone, but not forgotten. Okay. But I look ahead now. It's not the end of the world as I once thought. I Know I am smart and talented. I Know J. and are still in a decent friendship. I now Know that things are not as bad as they seem. Why should I limit myself to only one company and expect everything to come of that? I have come to understand that life is limited in time and time shouldn't be a difinitive of 30. I'll allow myself to show myself depression and now come out on my own. Life is what you make of yourself and what you allow your talents to be realized. I may never find my own self as a history teacher, but I will be able to express and interact with people that understand that my opinion matters. I may never be a master carpenter, but I do have the skills to question them. I may never be an expert salesman but I do know the right and wrong way to approach a customer. The point is life is not simple and life skills are sometimes non-quantitative. The true question is qualitative value of the person in question. Any one of us could be me in a different way, but what is your different way?

The world of pet unemployment

Does a pet deserve unemployment compensation? They give you love and affection. But does the love and affection become adversely affected by your own compensation? Do you cease the much desired treats of cat nip and dog bones? Considering that we own these pets, what is our obligations? To remain true and obedient servants of pets, or unemployed sacrificial lambs of society? My guess is that to remain optimistic in our troubled times, we will continue to look for the pets that love us, and that they have a simpleness that we adore of them that we will overcome. But the social experiment between pets and unemployment will nonetheless be a conundrum of pet owners given the financial situation we are in. Pets are a feline and canine sense of self reassurance in these difficult times. Sometimes your flush and all clean (cat), working for your next nap (vacation), and sometimes your a canine (dog), always looking to go outside to shit or pee, sometimes in the neighbor's yard. It's an analogy of life. Cat's are always care free and satisfied, Dog's always want to go even further. The cat will always forgive and come back, but the dog will always want to piss on someone's territory and then come back when things get tough. In my opinion pets will not be sacrificed in this economy because of the fierce allegiances that we gain with them no matter their wrong doings or injustices. So Wrigley, I tell you sleep 16 hours a day, and be my friend only the remaining of the 8 hours that your willing.
